GUIDE FOR CHARGING A PLUG-IN HYBRID CAR

We are glad that you chose to rent our plug-in hybrid car! Here is a short guide to help you understand how to charge the car and make the most of its electric capabilities.

1. Charging Methods

There are generally the following charging options available for plug-in hybrids:

Home Charging: You can charge the car at home or at work using a charging cable and a standard outlet (230V) or a charging station (3.6-22 kW). A full charge usually takes about 4 hours.

Public Charging: Many cities and companies offer public charging points that you can use to charge your plug-in hybrid. Charging points may be slower than fast charging, but they are suitable for the car’s needs.

Please note that hybrid cars can only charge at 3.6-7.4 kW, even if the charging point’s power is higher (11-22 kW). Hybrids cannot be connected to fast chargers, as they have different plugs.

2. Recommended Charging Networks

When you book the car, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the following charging networks to find the most suitable charging point for your journey. Charging at public charging stations often requires the respective service provider’s app and registration.

Virta Global: A wide charging network covering all of Finland. You can use their mobile app to find the nearest charging point and pay for the charging.

K-Lataus: The K-Group’s charging network, found at several K-stores and Neste K service stations.

ABC-Lataus: The S-Group’s charging network, available at several shops and ABC service stations. Charging can be done using the familiar ABC Mobile app.

Lidl: A charging network available at several Lidl stores. Charging can be done using the familiar Lidl Plus app.

3. Tips for Charging

  1. Don’t worry about plugging in the wrong cable: You can’t connect an incorrect cable to the car. Only Type 2 cables are compatible with our hybrids, and other cables do not fit the car’s socket.
  2. Charge whenever possible: Use public charging points and home charging to take full advantage of the car’s electric capabilities, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize fossil emissions.
  3. Charge at night: If possible, charge the car overnight when electricity is often cheaper, and charging points are more readily available.
  4. Using the combustion engine: If the electric range is not sufficient for the entire trip, don’t worry—the combustion engine will start automatically when the battery is empty. In this case, drive economically and refuel as needed.
  5. Drive economically: The car’s electric range depends on your driving style. Economical driving can significantly extend the range. Avoid sudden accelerations and braking, and make use of the vehicle’s energy recovery system.
  6. Air conditioning and heating: The car’s heating and air conditioning systems consume battery power. Use them wisely to keep battery life as long as possible.
  7. Charge on the go: Plan your trip so that you can charge the car during breaks, such as while dining or shopping. This makes charging convenient and efficient.

Safe travels, and enjoy the drive!
