Tietomaa
Tietomaa Science Centre is the most diverse science centre in Northern Finland and an excellent destination for the whole family. Interactive exhibitions, a movie theatre and the views from the observation tower make the visit a memorable experience. Kierikki
Located about a 40-minute drive from Oulu, the Kierikki Stone Age village and museum offers a unique opportunity to explore Finland’s prehistory. Rokua National Park
Located about an hour’s drive from Oulu, Rokua National Park is known for its ridges, crystal-clear kettle lakes and peaceful pine forests. The area is part of a UNESCO Global Geopark and offers excellent opportunities for hiking, cycling and relaxing in nature throughout the year. Rokua is a perfect destination for a day trip or a weekend nature getaway.
Hailuoto
Hailuoto, the largest island in the Bothnian Bay, is located about an hour from Oulu and can be reached by ferry or via an ice road in winter. Hailuoto charms visitors with its sandy beaches, lighthouses and unique island atmosphere. The Marjaniemi Lighthouse and the long shorelines offer stunning views in both summer and winter. The island is an excellent destination for a peaceful escape in the heart of nature.

Old Raahe
Located about 75 kilometres from Oulu, Raahe is especially known for Old Raahe, one of the best-preserved wooden towns in Finland. Narrow streets, historic buildings and a maritime atmosphere make the town a charming place to visit. In Raahe, you can also explore the Maritime Museum and enjoy the calm atmosphere of a small coastal town.
Nallikari
Nallikari, located in the Hietasaari area of Oulu, offers the perfect family day by the sea. Don’t miss the legendary Nallikari “lighthouse” observation tower. Nallikari can be visited year-round and is also a popular photography spot.
Midnight Sun Run
Midnight Sun Run Oulu is a new running event that combines sports, culture, nature and the unique atmosphere of the midnight sun into an unforgettable experience. The event will take place on Saturday, 4 July 2026, in Oulu, with both the start and finish lines located in Nallikari.
